Committees and Academic Board
In Autumn 2014 the Royal Irish Academy will establish 10 Multidisciplinary committees. A call to express interest in serving on a committee closed in June 2014.
Members of these committees are made up of RIA members and non-members. Their membership is approved by the Executive Committee.
The Academy Committees were established over fifty years ago to advise on research policy, contribute to areas of strategic importance, address issues of public concern, foster excellence, cooperate with other disciplines, sustain international linkages, organise conferences and workshops and award grants. They operate in an all-Ireland capacity.
Membership of the Committees is drawn from universities, research institutions, government agencies, industry and other relevant bodies throughout the island of Ireland. The aim is always to ensure broad representation on each Committee, taking account of gender, regional, thematic, organisational and North-South balances.
