The Royal Irish Academy supports and informs debate on the changing role, needs and requirements of the higher education and public research system more nationally and internationally. It advocates the intrinsic value and worth of the sciences and humanities and challenges policy discourses which prioritise the functional application of scientific research above all other contributions.

Advancing Humanities and Social Sciences Research in Ireland

In October 2005, the Academy convened a working group to examine the status of humanities and social sciences research and to consider how best to ensure the future sustainability and appeal of the HSS research environment in Ireland. Academia-Industry Research Collaboration

The Academy Committee for Life Sciences and the RIA Science Secretary formed a Working Group in 2005 to identify the key challenges and opportunities for Ireland in large scale academia-industry research collaborations and a workshop was held in December 2005 on these issues. Download report
