Abstract

In this note, we show that if a net ƒα(T) converges pointwise to ƒ(T) then there is a subsequence ƒα_n uniformly convergent to ƒ on the compact subsets of some part of the spectrum of T. This extends a well known result in the case of uniform convergence of functions of operators. We give some applications of the result.
