The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Charles Duggan

Heritage Officer Dublin City Council

Charles is Heritage Officer for Dublin City Council and is responsible for implementing the Dublin City Strategic Heritage Plan 2023 - 2028. He project managed the development of the 14 Henrietta Street Museum, Páirc Lúcáis Naofa, and the Wood Quay Venue. He has commissioned a wide range of social and architectural history books on Dublin including The Best Address in Town (published 2021) and Spectral Mansion (published 2023) the More Than Concrete Blocks series, the last volume of which was published November 2024.
