Climate Change and Environmental Sciences Committee
The Committee for Climate Change and Environmental Sciences is a broadly based body with representatives from third-level institutions in Ireland and Northern Ireland involved in climate and environmental research, as well as representative from State agencies and other bodies with an interest in this area. The Committee was formed in 2014 with a four year term of office. The Committee was the national adhering body for the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), which was formally wound up in 2016 following the establishment of Future Earth, which is a major international research platform to advance Global Sustainability Science. The Committee meets regularly and performs a broad range of functions including, but not limited to, organising outreach events, promoting public engagement, responding to Government consultations and producing expert statements.
The committee are the authors of a number of expert statements produced by the Academy.
