
Deirdre Raftery

Professor Deirdre Raftery is a historian of education, at University College Dublin. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (PhD), an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, and a Fulbright Alum. She has been a Visiting Fellow at both the University of Oxford, and the University of Southampton. Deirdre has also been a visiting researcher at Boston College, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Toronto, and she is a Life Member of the University of Cambridge. Deirdre has eleven book publications, and has published many articles and chapters. She is an international expert on the history of nineteenth century convent schooling, and nineteenth century women religious (nuns).
