The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Delia Ferri

MU

Delia Ferri is a Professor of Law at Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology, where she acts as Director of the Postgraduate Research Programmes in Law. Since March 2020, she is the co-Director of the MU Assisting Living & Learning (ALL) Institute. She also holds an affiliated researcher position at Institute of Law, Politics and Development (DIRPOLIS) of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy) and she is an international fellow at the Burton Blatt Institute of Syracuse University (USA). Delia has authored several academic publications on the rights of people with disabilities, participatory processes, and cultural diversity. She has taken part into different academic research projects and policy-oriented studies, and she is currently Principal Investigator of the project entitled Protecting the Right to Culture of Persons with Disabilities and Enhancing Cultural Diversity through European Union Law: Exploring New Paths (DANCING) funded by the European Research Council.
