The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

The Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs

The Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has generously supported Art and Architecture of Ireland, an authoritative and fully illustrated account of the art and architecture of Ireland from the early Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century. Scéimeanna Tacaíochta Gaeilge in the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and the Gaeltacht supports the Foclóir na Nua-Ghaeilge project, one of the Academy's longest established research projects.
