The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Dervla Kelly

Dervla Kelly is a Lecturer in Medical Education at the University of Limerick.  She trained as a pharmacist and is currently teaching and researching in the area of medicines safety.  She has partnered on research with health service providers such as the HSE, Rehab Group and Ana Liffey Drug Project. Over the last few years, her research has focused on mental health, including the appropriate use of medicines in dementia and intellectual disability and also medical ethics.
