We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Take a ‘world tour’ on the streets of Dublin with this walking tour of ‘Diplomatic Dublin’.

Led by John Gibney, co-author of Ireland: a voice among the nations, it will explore Ireland’s place in the world through the first decades of independence through the people and locations associated with Ireland’s foreign service and their international counterparts from the War of Independence to the aftermath of the Second World War. Beginning at the Royal Irish Academy, the tour will run from Dawson St, through Merrion Square and up to St Stephen’s Green.
Booking is essential. Walk will take approximately 90 minutes
