The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Emma Farrell

Interdisciplinary Researcher

Emma Farrell is an interdisciplinary researcher with expertise in researching people's lived experiences of mental health, health and well-being. Emma is a founding member of Jigsaw, Ireland's National Centre for Youth Mental Health and Chair of Governance on the Council of Gaisce, the Presidents Award. A Chartered Psychologist with a degree in Public Health and Health Promotion, and a Masters and PhD in Education, Emma enjoys approaching social challenges from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. She is author of 'Making Sense of Mental Health: A Practical Approach Through Lived Experience' (The Liffey Press, 2022) and co-founder of thinkful.ie
