THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Part One of this conversation is entitled ‘A New Relationship? Brexit, Ireland and Northern Ireland’ and will take place in the Academy on 6th May.

Please see the full programme here

Part Two of this conversation will take place on 15th September at Queen’s University Belfast.

The constitutional futures of the UK and the wider relationship with both parts of Ireland are the focus of this event.  Building upon a successful earlier series of events in Queens University Belfast, this conversation will widen out discussion to cover the implications of further devolution/independence in the UK and, particularly, the impact on Ireland, north and south, of the UK leaving the EU or the ECHR.

Two bursaries of €50.00 each are available to post-graduate students. To make an application for a bursary contact John Morison MRIA, at j.morison@qub.ac.uk Include a CV and up to 500 words outlining your reasons for wishing to attend the conversation, and how your attendance would assist with your studies.

This Brexit conversation has been co-organised and co-sponsored by JMCE Tensinos at the EU Fringes (TREUP).
