The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Paul Hackett

Head of architecture BT Ireland

Paul currently holds the position of head of architecture with BT Ireland. He responsible for the evolution of all of BT Ireland's business and operational systems, the network and overarching technology. Prior to his current role he held the position of head of network design with BT, head of solution design and delivery with eir and worked as a solution architect with Verizon. He has 20+ years experience in the ICT industry across all business verticals. Paul holds an MBA and MEng from DCU and studied electronic engineering as an undergraduate.
