The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Funding for 16 Charlemont Projects awarded

The RIA is delighted to announce that 16 Charlemont Projects have been funded under the 2021/2022 iteration of the scheme.

Over €30,000 has been awarded to early career researchers right across the Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences spanning projects such as 'Modelling the impact of high-energy particles on chemistry in exoplanet atmospheres' to 'Histories of Emotion in the Built Environment'.

The Charlemont scheme has long supported outstanding Early Career Researchers in developing new research collaborations and networks.
