The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Eamon Judge

Eamon Judge graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor’s (Hons)  in Chemical Engineering and joined Eli Lilly, Kinsale, Cork , Ireland in 1980. In the 1980s he held management roles in sterile &  bulk API production and solvent recovery, environmental and utility support functions.  During the mid 1990s, Eamon relocated to Eli Lilly’s Corporate Headquarters in Indianapolis, US and held several leadership roles completing an Engineering Masters at Purdue University.
In the late 90s , Eamon returned to Ireland and became a Site Senior Leadership Team member as head of production and in subsequent decades he held Director level positions in HSE , Manufacturing IT and Automation, Supply Chain Operations and Engineering. In 2016 Eamon moved to the Global Engineering function and in recent years has been responsible for strategic planning for over $1b of capital investments and  is currently a Senior Director in Lilly’s  Global Engineering  Function .
Eamon represented Eli Lilly for many years on the Council of BioPharmaChem Ireland, the industry association representing the biopharma sector in Ireland. Up to 2021 he was President of the Ireland Affiliate of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), Chair of the ISPE European Affiliate Boardand  led the lifesciences COVID Alliance response. Eamon has been an external examiner for Cork Institute of Technology and a Board of Management Chair for two primary schools for over 12 years. Eamon has a passion for working with young people - from being a Scout Leader to acting as a STEM coach in local schools for the past 20 years.
