Ekaterina Yahyaoui Krivenko

Dr Ekaterina Yahyaoui Krivenko is currently a Senior Lecturer in Human Rights at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, School of Law, National University of Ireland Galway. 
Prior to joining NUI Galway in 2012, Ekaterina taught and researched at the University of Montreal (Canada). She is an expert in various dimensions of human rights and international law dealing with exclusions and deficiencies along gender and cultural lines. Her approach is interdisciplinary and combines theoretical insights with practical proposals. Most recently, she published a monograph discussing the limitations and possibilities of the concept of gender in international human rights law (Gender and Human Rights: Expanding Concepts, Elgar Publishing, 2020) as well as a monograph discussing the concept of space in international law from an historical perspective (Space and Fates of International Law: Between Leibniz and Hobbes, Cambridge University Press, 2020). On several occasions she was selected as an external expert for the evaluation of various projects within EU Horizon2020 Programme. She was elected to and served as a Chair of the Coordinating Committee of the Interest Group on International Legal Theory and Philosophy of the European Society of International Law. Ekaterina is a former director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes of the Irish Centre for Human Rights and the current Vice-Dean for Research in the College of Business, Public Policy, and Law.
