The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Colette Bennett

Social Justice Ireland

Colette is an Economic and Social Analyst with Social Justice Ireland, an independent think-tank and justice advocacy organisation. She holds a Masters in Social Justice and Public Policy. Her research interests include poverty, taxation, work, housing, participation, and the Global South. She provides lectures at third level, community education for life-long learning, and second-level workshops on social policy and is committed to rigous, evidence-based policy. 

Prior to working with Social Justice Ireland, Colette was a member of the Senior Management Team of MABS National Development where she managed the Approved Intermediary Service, the first dedicated insolvency service for low-income borrowers and successfully advocated for legislative change to ensure consumer protection. She was also responsible for Service Delivery through the MABS National Helpline, the MABS IT system, and the provision of support to national services. 

She is a qualified solicitor and has worked in corporate law and conveyancing.
