We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Professor Karen Wiltshire will deliver the third in the series of RIA Sustainability Series public lectures in the University of Galway. 

Professor Karen Wiltshire will deliver the third in the Royal Irish Academy Sustainability Series of public lectures. She will speak on 'Coastal seas in the fast lane of climate change: Resilience and adaptation for a sustainable future.' 

Professor Wiltshire is the Vice-Director of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), and Director of the AWI sites on Helgoland and Sylt. 

Organised by the RIA Geoscience and Geographical Sciences and Climate Change and Environmental Sciences committees and supported by the Geological Survey Ireland and the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland.
