The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Season's Greetings to all our members and friends!

The President and Council of the Royal Irish Academy, together with all staff, would like to wish you the very best for the festive season and New Year.

The building will be closed from Saturday, 24 December 2022 and will reopen on Tuesday, 3 January 2023.

The library will be closed to readers from Saturday, 24 December 2022 and will reopen on Monday, 9 January at 10:00.

Our books and stationery are all available in our online bookshop and we offer delivery or ‘click and collect’ (Tues–Thurs only). The last day of 'click and collect' is Thursday, 22 December. Any postal orders placed after 14.00 on 22 December will not be posted until we reopen on Tuesday, 3 January 2023.
