Professor Cormac Taylor received his PhD in Pharmacology in UCD in 1996 prior to a postdoctoral fellowship in Harvard Medical school from 1996-2001. He currently holds an appointment as Professor of Cellular Physiology at the School of Medicine and Medical Science and the Conway Institute, University College Dublin. Research in the Taylor Lab is directed towards expanding our understanding of the physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms by which changes in micro-environmental oxygen levels regulate gene transcription in cells. A key focus of this work is the identification of new therapeutic targets in inflammatory disease. Professor Taylor was elected as a member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2014.
