The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

The Mathematical Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy is a peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research in pure and applied mathematics. Exceptionally, survey articles of topics of current research interest that present new points of view or major simplifications are also published.

Mathematical papers have appeared in Royal Irish Academy journals since they were first published in 1787. Contributors have included many of the most important figures in Irish Mathematics, including Sir William Rowan Hamilton.

The editorial board includes members from all the major academic institutions in Ireland and international members of repute from China, Denmark, Portugal and the USA.

Recently the journal has published papers addressing the following fields, among others: Noncommutative Probability Theory; General Topology; Operator Theory; Banach and C*-Algebras; Finite Group Theory; Complex Function Theory; Lattice Theory; Boundary Value Problems with Applications; Dynamical Systems.
