The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

'Ireland's memory, Ireland's discovery, 2016-2019' was launched at Academy House

On Tuesday 22 November the Consortium of National and University Libraries (CONUL) launched its Strategy for 2016-2019. Ireland’s memory, Ireland’s discovery was launched on behalf of Minister for Education & Skills, Mr Richard Bruton, T.D. by Dr Mary Doyle, Deputy Secretary General at the Department.

The new strategy aims to make a significant impact in the education sector and plans a shared national catalogue which will make all collections held by research libraries across Ireland searchable online.

Speeches were delivered by CONUL Chair, Siobhán Fitzpatrick, Librarian to the Royal Irish1,Christopher Pressler, University Librarian, Dublin City University and Chair of the Strategic Implementation Group  nd Helen Shenton, Librarian and College Archivist, Trinity College Dublin.
