THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

DIFP Outreach work

26 October 2016

On 26 October Kate also gave a DIFP outreach workshop to Dr Jennifer Redmond’s students at Maynooth University who are studying Ireland and post-war Britain.

DIFP X was particularly useful for this workshop as it contains material on the problems facing the Irish immigrant community in Birmingham and London in the 1950s

Earlier in the month Michael received a warm welcome from the Westmeath Archaeological and Historical Society when he visited Mullingar to talk at the Greville Arms Hotel on the sinking of the liner Arandora Star during the Battle of the Atlantic and its impact on Ireland.
