We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

To launch the publication of Debating austerity in Ireland: crisis, experience and recovery (eds Emma Heffernan, John McHale and Niamh Moore-Cherry) we will host a panel discussion posing the question:

Austerity in retrospect: too much, too little or just right?

The event, which takes place on the 9th anniversary of the bank guarantee, will feature contributions from
