The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

RIA Nominee to attend World Science Forum in Jordan

The Royal Irish Academy is delighted to announce the selection of its nominee, Dr Jamie Goggins, to attend the World Science Forum in Jordan in November 2017.

Dr Jamie Goggins, a Chartered Engineer with over 15 years of experience in consultancy, construction, expert advisory work and research will represent the Royal Irish Academy at the World Science Forum in Jordan this year.

Dr Goggins has worked on many projects worldwide, including in the areas of structural engineering, earthquake resistant structures, building design, structural health monitoring, renewable energy and infrastructure in developing countries.

The Academy wishes Dr Goggins well on his trip and looks forward to benefitting from his learning on his return.
