The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Professor Tuula Teeri delivers Annual Leaders in Higher Education Address

Introductory remarks at this prestigious invitation only event were given by the Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O' Connor, TD.

Professor Teeri outlined her experience of managing the merging of three separate institutions into Aalto University. She discussed the obstacles which the merger created and the ongoing intiatives being introduced to improve innovation and the student experience at Aalto.

The audience was comprised of Academy members and officials, politicians, key stakeholders and IOT representatives who are interested in the Technological Universities Bill. The talk was followed by a lively Q+A session.
