
Gay Conroy
Irish Genealogical Research Society
Gay Conroy has been a member of the Irish Genealogical Research Society since 2004, and an active committee member since 2005. From 2018 to 2020 she occupied the chair of the Ireland Branch committee. Gay has been representing the IGRS on the Irish Committee of Historical Sciences since 2015. A TCD classics graduate, Gay has focused on genealogical research for the past fifteen years. Her article Pedigree and History of the Colclough Family of Staffordshire and Wexford was published in the Journal of the Wexford Historical Society No 22, pps 50-60. She prepared and edited the Colclough Family History for online publication. Her present project - transcription, editing and analysis of the 500-page diary of a young Limerick woman 1838-1840 - is nearing completion. In keeping with her classics background, Gay is a member of the Irish Institute of Hellenic Studies at Athens: she travels frequently to Greece. From 2009-2015 Gay represented the IGRS on the Council of Irish Genealogical Organisations.
