Visit Academy House this Culture Night, we have lots to do and see.
The Royal Irish Academy, founded in 1785, is one of the oldest institutions in the country. Learn about our history, the Dawson Street building we have called home for over 160 years, our unique Library collections and our research projects. Explore our exhibition ‘Prodigies of learning: Academy women in the nineteenth century’. Delve into the maps and texts from the Irish Historic Towns Atlas project and reveal the history of your favourite place or building. Talk to staff from Foclóir Stairiúil na Gaeilge and learn how an Irish dictionary is made. Browse our pop-up bookshop and find out all about the work of the Academy. Write your name in Ogham script and view one of our medieval manuscripts in the Library’s Reading Room. Talks throughout the night in our magnificent Meeting Room.
