THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. Our touring exhibition based on Judging Shaw by Fintan O'Toole will be on display at Dublin Book Festival

The Royal Irish Academy, in partnership with NUI Galway and supported by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has created a pop-up exhibition based on the book Judging Shaw by Fintan O’Toole.

George Bernard Shaw was first person ever to win a Nobel Prize and an Oscar. On the night Shaw died, Broadway and Times Square dimmed their lights in his honour. With his passionate interest in social justice and poverty, in human rights, in public discourse and in entertainment, he was a man with much to say to our times. He was a master of self-invention, a nobody who captured the zeitgeist and one of the first private individuals to understand fully how to generate—and how to use—global fame.

The exhibition will be on display at this year's Dublin Book Festival. Opening hours: Friday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. Free entry; no booking required.
