Eoin O'Mahony Bursary in Irish History open
21 February 2019The Eoin O’Mahony Bursary in Irish History was established in memory of the genealogist and newspaper columnist Eoin O’Mahony, and is now open for applications.
Applicants should be engaged in historical research on subjects of Irish interest, including family history projects, particularly those associated with the ‘Wild Geese’. The grant provides support for the direct costs of consulting sources which are not available in Ireland. We are seeking applications from researchers across all career stages. There is no requirement for an applicant to be a University Graduate however applicants must demonstrate that their research is likely to constitute a significant and scholarly contribution to historical knowledge.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19th March 2019.
A total fund of €10,000 is available for the Eoin O’Mahony Bursary in Irish History. A maximum of €2,500 per application may be requested however the scheme will be competitive, and the average grant awarded has previously been in the region of €1,000 - €2,000.
