The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Catherine Stanton, senior principal research officer at Teagasc was admitted as a Member of the Royal Irish Academy on 24 May 2019.

Catherine Stanton is a senior principal research officer at Teagasc and a research professor at University College Cork. She has published hundreds of research papers on the molecular analysis of food components that impact on human nutrition and health. She has a h-index of 88 and has been awarded a D.Sc. She is also a founding principal investigator at the APC Microbiome Ireland research institute.
