Transitioning to Open Science: How can the research community prepare?

The ‘National Framework on the Transition to an Open Research Environment’ has been developed as the first step in a process to create a National Action Plan for the transition to an Open Science/Research environment in Ireland. The framework states that the principles of research integrity and responsible research underpin it and will guide its actions in this space. It commits to support researchers throughout the transition to open research and to ensure that they are assisted, recognised and rewarded for practicing open research. The underlying principle of the framework, and the planned National Action Plan on this transition, is that all “researchers will have access to the resources necessary to enable them to publish through Open Access, without prejudice”.

In this session, we will ask how researchers can be assisted in the transition towards open science and how the proposed National Action Plan on Open Science can best support them during this period of reform.
