THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

Cuireann Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann an taighde chun cinn. Tugaimid aitheantas do scoth taighdeoirí na hÉireann. Tugaimid tacaíocht don scoláireacht agus cuirimid an pobal ar an eolas faoin leas atá le baint as an eolaíocht agus as na daonnachtaí. Creidimid gur gá an dea-thaighde a chur chun cinn, a chothú agus a chur in iúl don phobal. Comhairle dá chuid ball a reachtálann an tAcadamh. Déantar baill a thoghadh agus meastar gurb é an gradam acadúil is airde in Éirinn é.

Important notice in relation to COVID 19

17 May 2020

Academy buildings are currently closed and staff are working from home. We are currently planning to reopen Academy buildings on a phased basis, in line with Government guidance, and we will confirm reopening dates as soon as possible.

Remote working is minimising disruption to our organisation; we are continuing with our work so that when Academy House reopens we can resume full operations as soon as possible. We endeavour to maintain as full a range of activities as possible during this period. We would like to thank you all for your continued support. See below for more details.

Events

All upcoming events are postponed until further notice. Where possible, we are making events available as online exhibitions or virtual events. Please check the events listing for updates.

Publications and webshop orders

Our bookshop is open for online orders as normal.

For any queries in relation to orders, please contact publications@ria.ie

In addition, many of our books are also available in a digital format. You can also now enjoy our exhibition based on the book A history of Ireland in 100 words online.

Library

The Library is closed until further notice. You can enjoy the current library exhibition, Creative women of Ireland: artists and writers from the archives online.

Research projects

All RIA research projects are working remotely. They are continuing with their research and publication schedules. Do look at individual project web pages and news items to see how RIA projects are making new materials available online and providing greater resources for the public during the current crisis.

Grants funding

We know that the implications of the current situation on grant schemes and funded projects will be felt over the next weeks and months, and project timelines and plans may be unavoidably affected as a result of steps taken to contain the virus.

We are focused on anticipating and alleviating the pressures caused by this situation on grants schemes insofar as is practicable. To this end, we are addressing the needs of individual grant schemes and projects on a case-by-case basis.
