University of Warwick
Simon Swain FBA is Vice-President National and Regional Engagement at the University of Warwick and Vice-President for Research and Higher Education Policy at the British Academy, chairing the Committee which oversees the Academy’s core research funding activity and strategy.
Simon spent many of his earlier years building up Warwick’s new department of Classics and then ran its Faculty of Arts. He has also been responsible for Warwick’s Arts and Social Sciences and its international strategy at executive level. He is still active researching the interface between the worlds of ancient Greece and Rome and the Islamicate empire of the middle ages and he currently co-leads the Streamlining Galen project on the ‘small texts’ that made canonical medicine digestible and teachable.
