The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Michael Creane

Research Fellow NUIG

Dr Michael Creane (BSc, MSc, PhD) is a Research Fellow in the Regenerative Medicine Institute in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) in NUI Galway. His research focuses on the clinical and preclinical translation of cell-based therapies for vascular diseases. Michael is a Research Staff representative on Academic Council, CMNHS Research Committee, CMNHS Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Well Being committee and the School of Medicine Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team in NUI Galway. He is also a member of the Irish Research Staff association.
