We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Is perception a state of mind?

In today's episode of Spreading the Words we explore the meaning of the word Dúlra, a word dear to poet Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill.

The connection between our state of mind and how we perceive things is explored in early Irish literature as well as in contemporary writings. Hear how the natural word is perceived by Irish writers in the past and by Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill in more recent times.
