Dublin City University Library Joins the DRI

20 November 2020

DCU Library provides information, content, collection and library services and supports on 3 campuses.

DCU has joined DRI to benefit from mutual sharing of technical knowledge and expertise, training and liaison opportunities, and preservation support and enhanced discoverability for DCU digital projects and collections.

University Librarian, John McDonough, remarked that:

DCU Library is delighted to join the DRI.  The developments in service delivery and the academic landscape place an even greater emphasis on the advantages and possibilities of digital publication.  As a member of DRI, we are keen to actively contribute to this growing user community and gain benefits from the expertise and experience of the DRI team.  Over the coming months, we hope to use the DRI platform to share some of our digitised material and develop our skills in digital preservation and access.

DRI Director Natalie Harrower welcomed our latest member:

DCU Library has been developing their digital collections and looking to share them as broadly as possible, while also attending to the preservation of these collections over the long term. Their desire to benefit from knowledge communities and economies of scale shows their future-focused attitude towards the publication, dissemination and preservation of collections, alongside a desire to implement best practice solutions.

DCU will be working with DRI to deposit their unique and distinct print and image collections, dating from the 13th century to the present, and archives and records dating from the 19th century to the present.

DRI looks forward to sharing the rich cultural content from the DCU Library collections over the coming months, so keep an eye on our Twitter feed!
