The Academy would like to extend its congratulations to Brian Norton MRIA, on his election to the position of EASAC Vice-President.
The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. We support international collaboration in research and higher education and promote the participation of Irish experts in international public policy groups responding to global challenges. We are a member of numerous European and global scientific networks including the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC), the All European Federation of Academies (ALLEA), the International Science Council (ISC) and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP).
The Royal Irish Academy nominates suitable candidates for esteemed and prestigious international prizes. In addition to endorsing nominations, the Academy communicates successful candidates’ activities to national academics and policymakers in Ireland. International prizes the Academy engages with include the Baillet Latour Health Prize, The Wolf Prize, The John Maddox Prize and many more
The Royal Irish Academy is a member of several global academic networks and international scholarly associations. We work to raise the international profile of Ireland’s researchers and research networks, strengthen the voice of the sciences, humanities and social sciences in high-level debates, and support international collaboration and mobility through Academy grants programmes.
