Merlin Holland, scholar and grandson of Oscar Wilde, on the legacy of his great grandmother, the poet Speranza, Lady Jane Wilde.

December 2021 will be the bi-centenary of the birth of Lady Jane Wilde, and this event marks her contribution to the literary and cultural life of nineteenth-century Ireland. The event will focus on Speranza's scholarship, her essays, translations and poems. Merlin Holland will be in conversation with Wildean expert, Dr Noreen Doody. The event will be chaired by Dr Eibhear Walshe (UCC), who edited the recent collection Selected Writings of Speranza and William Wilde.
