IAP Elections 2022 – Call for Candidates

In conformity with the IAP STATUTES approved by IAP Member Academies in August 2021 and the new structure of IAP that the statutes specify, the IAP Nominations and Elections Committee is calling for candidates for election to the IAP Board, the IAP Advisory Committee, and the IAP Development and Programme Committees .

Nominations are required to fill the following positions

1. Co-chair from Low and Middle-Income Country to sit on the IAP Board (3)
2. Co-chair from High Income country to sit on the IAP Board (3)
3. Member of the Advisory Committee (5)
4. Member of the Academy Capacity Building Committee Development and Programme Committee
5. Member of the Policy Advice Development and Programme Committee
6. Member of Communications Education and Outreach Development and Programme Committee

Elections will be held online in June 2022.

Members of the Board (6 co-chairs) work in their individual capacities, but incumbents of the other positions are representatives of member academies. In all cases, candidates should be in a high-level decision-making position within their academy.

The Royal Irish Academy can nominate more than one candidate, and candidates can be nominated for more than one position (Co-chair, Advisory Committee and Programmatic Committees). To express an interest in being nominated by the Royal Irish Academy, please submit the following to policy@ria.ie by midday on 8 April 2022: a full CV and a statement outlining your suitability (max 500 words).

This opportunity is publicly advertised by the Royal Irish Academy.  

All expressions of interest received will be considered by the Academy’s Policy Oversight Group- the unit tasked with advising upon the initiation and implementation of all of the Academy’s policy and international activities and responsible for overseeing a standardised quality process for all outputs. Chaired by the Academy’s Secretary of Policy and International Relations, the six members of this group are all elected Members of the Royal Irish Academy and come from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds in several institutions across the island of Ireland- both north and south of the border. On occasions, the Policy Oversight Group may also consult additional experts to inform their assessments and evaluations.
