The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Irish Historic Towns Atlas Digital

Access to the Irish Historic Towns Atlas Online, GIS prototypes and Additional resources.

The Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA) has been producing printed atlases and related publications on Irish towns and cities since 1986. The IHTA Digital Working Group is chaired by Dr Rachel Murphy (University of Limerick) and is composed of Sarah Gearty (IHTA), Keith Lilley (Queen's University Belfast), Lisa Griffith (Digital Repository of Ireland), Kevin Long (Digital Repository of Ireland), Jennifer Moore (IHTA), Frank Cullen (IHTA), Wayne Aherne (RIA) and Derek Cosgrave (RIA). 

IHTA Digital is a complementary online resource and contains three components.
