The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

A.A. Myers

Alan A. Myers is Emeritus Professor in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at University College Cork. His main research interests include the taxonomy of amphipod crustaceans particularly of the tropics, analytical biogeography and intertidal marine ecology. He is the editor of the New Survey of Clare Island: v. 3: Marine Intertidal Ecology (2002) and joint editor of Disturbance and Recovery of Ecological Systems: Proceedings of a Seminar Held on 14-15 February 1995.
