The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Lisa Godson

Lisa Godson is programme leader of the MA in Design History and Material Culture at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. She is a cultural historian with a particular focus on material culture and architecture. Her publications include Uniform: clothing and discipline in the modern world (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019); Modern religious architecture in Germany, Ireland and beyond (Bloomsbury Visual Arts, 2019); Making 1916: visual and material culture of the Easter Rising (Liverpool University Press, 2015). Her monograph How the crowd felt: public ritual, memory and religion in the Irish Free State is forthcoming.
