The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Caoimhe Nic Dháibhéid

Caoimhe Nic Dháibhéid is senior lecturer in Modern History at the University of Sheffield, and has previously held research posts at the University of St Andrews, Fitzwilliam College Cambridge and Queen’s University Belfast. Her research interests include the history of Irish republicanism and the comparative history of political violence, and her current research project, which is funded by the Leverhulme Trust, is titled ‘Emotions and the Irish Revolution’.
