The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Ida Milne

Carlow College

Dr Ida Milne is a social historian with research interests in the history of disease and social history of medicine and medical science, Irish Studies, 26-county Irish Protestantism, and in the newspaper industry. She is a committee member of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine in Ireland Network, and vice chair of the Oral History Network of Ireland.  She held an Irish Research Council Marie Curie International Career Development Fellowship at Maynooth University from 2014-2018 and is currently working at Carlow College as European History Lecturer.
