This work contains proceedings of a seminar of the Irish National Committee for Biology, held in February 1992. Grassland scientists met to share perspectives from the many different agencies on the island and discuss how to exploit the natural resource. The papers offer a guide to the science, economics and politics of grassland management.

D.W. Jeffrey

David W. Jeffrey is a Fellow Emeritus of Botany and Ecology in the Trinity Centre for Biodiversity at Trinity College Dublin. He is joint editor of Irish Grasslands: Their Biology and Management (1995).

M.B. Jones

Mike B. Jones is a plant ecophysiologist and an Emeritus Fellow in Trinity College Dublin. Professor Jones is also a Member of the Royal Irish Academy. His main research interest is in the study of climate-plant interactions and since the 1980's he has been studying the effects of changing climate, and the direct effects of rising CO2 on a range of ecosystems including agricultural and natural grasslands and tropical wetlands. He is joint editor of Irish Grasslands: Their Biology and Management (1995).

J.H. McAdam

Professor Jim H. McAdam is the Head of the Crops, Grassland and Ecology Branch at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI). He co-edited Irish Grasslands: Their Biology and Management (1995).
