The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

An exhibition on Irish Historic Towns Atlas, no. 28 Galway/Gaillimh by Jacinta Prunty and Paul Walsh will be on display in the Galway City Museum.

An exhibition on the evolution of Galway has been curated by authors Jacinta Prunty and Paul Walsh to compliment the publication of Irish Historic Towns Atlas no. 28 Galway/Gaillimh  in association with Galway City Museum. A number of maps and views of Galway will be on display with accompanying text in English and Irish. The exhibtion will be on display in the foyer of Galway City Museum from 1 November 2016 during museum opening hours (Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm) and will be free to attend.
