Prof Dr Iulia Siedschlag is Associate Research Professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Economics, Trinity College Dublin. Iulia leads the ESRI’s research on Competitiveness, Trade and Foreign Direct Investment. Research in this area focuses on structural and microeconomic factors and policies underlying competitiveness and economic growth in Ireland and other European countries in the context of international economic integration. She has published widely in peer-reviewed international journals and books, especially on international trade, foreign direct investment, innovation, productivity and economic growth in advanced and emerging economies. Iulia has been awarded a large number of competitive research grants from international and national organisations and has successfully led a significant number of international research consortia involving research institutes and universities from Europe. She has been appointed to numerous Expert Groups and provided research-based policy advice to national and international organisations including the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank Institute, the International Labour Organization, and the World Economic Forum. Iulia has given over 100 research presentations at national and international conferences and over 40 invited research presentations and panel discussions to national and international audiences such as the European Investment Bank, the International Labour Organisation, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank Institute. Her research has been covered by international and national media such as CNN Business, BBC News, The Times, Irish Times, Irish Independent, Irish Examiner, and Belfast Telegraph.
