The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Jane Walsh

Professor Jane Walsh is a Health Psychologist and Director of the Mobile Technology and Health (mHealth) Research Group where she leads a programme of research on personalised connected health. Jane leads and partners on projects worth €10 million euro, including those funded by Horizon 2020, the Health Research Board and Science Foundation Ireland. Jane is the Co-Leader of the Health and Wellbeing Cluster in the Whitaker Institute (NUIG) and serves on the International Advisory Board for the European FAITH Project and the Research Advisory Board for the Irish Cancer Society. She is the former Chair of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) Division of Health Psychology an Associate Editor of the Journal Psychology and Health.  Jane was awarded the NUI Galway President's Award for Research Excellence (2020) in recognition of her work.
