We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Michael Gibbons

Assistant Professor in Advanced Heat Transfer TCD

Michael Gibbons is an Assistant Professor in Advanced Heat Transfer and a Royal Society-Science Foundation Ireland University Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. He has over a decade of experience in heat transfer, fluid mechanics and applied energy research in Ireland, Canada, and the UK. Michael leads his Thermal Fluids and Energy research group at TCD. Their research focuses on thermal energy transport and conversion technologies, electronics cooling and developing novel zero-carbon technologies for biomass, geothermal, energy storage and waste heat recovery applications to address domestic and global energy challenges.
